About The Position

The selected candidate will assist in a range of experimental research activities aimed at advancing new technologies for studying brain function and behavior. Responsibilities will include supporting molecular biology workflows, protein expression and characterization, preparation of imaging assays, and organization and processing of research data. This position will play a key role in maintaining continuity within several ongoing projects that involve the development of novel optical tools and their application to neuroscience research. The Optical Brain Dynamics Laboratory is a growing, interdisciplinary research group that integrates technology development with fundamental studies of brain circuits, offering a collaborative and dynamic environment for scientific and technical development. Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Prior exposure to research in neuroscience or related biological fields, including assistance with basic neural imaging, tissue preparation, or behavioral studies.
  • Experience working with optical or imaging-based methods—such as fluorescence microscopy or other light-based measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with mouse handling or routine animal work in a research setting, including general care, genotyping, or assisting with experimental procedures.
  • Experience contributing to interdisciplinary projects that integrate biological experiments with technological tools, along with strong documentation and task-coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists with routine laboratory procedures, including molecular biology workflows, protein expression, sample preparation, and general experimental support.
  • Supports ongoing research projects by coordinating experimental tasks, preparing reagents, and helping maintain continuity in day-to-day laboratory operations.
  • Performs imaging-related assays and contributes to data acquisition, organization, and basic analysis.
  • Maintains laboratory records, follows established protocols, and ensures proper handling of research materials and equipment.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Collaborates with other lab members and contributes to a safe, organized, and efficient research environment.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
