About The Position

The Brathwaite Lab is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join our team investigating curative strategies for children with Alport Syndrome. Our research integrates in vivo gene therapy models, functional genomics, and super-resolution microscopy to uncover fundamental mechanisms of podocyte biology and glomerular disease. As a member of our team, you will receive individualized mentorship and rigorous technical training in advanced molecular and imaging techniques, including: • In vivo mouse models of gene therapy • Complex kidney tissue processing and sectioning • Specialized renal functional assays • Advanced immunofluorescence and super-resolution microscopy • Experimental design and data analysis Technicians in our lab are treated as scientific collaborators. As you develop mastery of core techniques, you will assume increasing responsibility in experimental planning, execution, and project coordination. We seek a disciplined, intellectually curious individual with strong organizational skills and a commitment to precision. Prior laboratory experience (up to one year) is welcome but not required. This role is ideal for candidates planning to pursue MD, PhD, or industry research careers and seeking immersive, high-impact research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, animal procedures, and preparation of tissues for imaging modalities and omics analyses.
  • Performs data entry and presentation of materials; maintains data files on research.
  • Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, etc.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
