About The Position

The Liu Lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Stony Brook University is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join our newly established and growing group. Our research focuses on centrosomes and cilia, organelles with diverse and critical functions in both physiological and pathophysiological conditions. This is a full-time position with a commitment of two or more years. We highly value scientific development and are dedicated to fostering a caring and supportive environment. The successful candidate will receive extensive training in scientific thinking and techniques in cellular and molecular biology, with the goal of gradually developing into an independent scientist. Recent graduates with experience in microscopy and super-resolution microscopy are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology, biochemistry, physiology, biomedical sciences or a related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Full-time experience working in the field of cell biology.
  • Experience in cell culture and mouse husbandry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage daily laboratory projects revolving around centrosome and cilia biology.
  • Utilize the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing system coupled with expansion-super resolution microscopy to understand centrosome and cilia dynamics.
  • Assist in ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and keeping the lab inventory well-stocked and organized.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.
