About The Position

A full-time Research Technician B position is available in the Bowman laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Our laboratory studies how blood-forming stem cells form and function and how their dysfunction contributes to blood malignancies. The research technician will assist in laboratory experiments, zebrafish colony maintenance, and general laboratory organization. We employ zebrafish genetics, chemical biology and imaging techniques to address these critical questions. The project will involve zebrafish handling including imaging and colony management. Applicants must be comfortable working with zebrafish, although no prior experience with animals is required. Additional knowledge of molecular and biochemical techniques, such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blotting, is preferred. Experience with microscopy is a plus.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field and zero to two years of related experience
  • Previous lab bench work experience is preferred
  • Good organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Must be familiar with basic procedures in handling chemicals and standard lab equipment
  • Working knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blotting
  • Must be willing to work with zebrafish

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with microscopy is a plus

Responsibilities
