About The Position

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician 2 performs rodent handling and in vitro cell-based assays. Responsibilities Performs in vitro cell-based assays in primary neuronal and astrocyte cultures. Assists with nucleic acid extractions, protein extractions, and other basic molecular biology as needed. Supports all aspects of rodent studies including colony maintenance, estrus cycle monitoring, timed matings, embryo collection, blood collection, tissue collections, perfusions, and injection. Performs behavioral phenotyping assays. Performs stereotaxic injections to deliver viral vectors to select rodent brain regions. Assists in the publication and presentation of data papers at internal and external meetings. Prepares weekly reports for lab meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Psychology, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED
  • OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
  • Meticulous record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.
  • Ability to plan and complete experiments in a timely manner and around the schedule of important collaborators and institutional cores.
