About The Position

The Research Technician will be involved in performing routine laboratory techniques, inventory, and animal colony maintenance in Dr. David Akhavan' s research lab. This individual will be involved in the scientific research work in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Research Program at University of Kansas Medical Center.

Requirements

  • 4 years of work experience in laboratory research. Education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Computer experience, including Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine laboratory techniques, housekeeping, tracking, and ordering inventory.
  • Responsible for animal colony maintenance.
  • Keep the laboratory and equipment clean and prepped for research protocol.
  • Adhere to safety and compliance guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation, calibration, maintenance of laboratory and facility equipment.
  • Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Radiation Oncology Department, understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols, and attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings.
