About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Laboratory Manager, Research Teaching Specialist I, performs research activities. Performs work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures. Overview New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Responsibilities

• As directed, performs various research and technical operations relative to the ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory.
• Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures suggesting revisions where necessary, and proposing new procedures where required.
• Assists with training fellows, medical students and lab technicians in laboratory techniques as directed.
• Responsible for submitting purchase recommendations to his/her supervisor.
• Ensures that laboratory equipment is maintained in good working orders.
• Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments.
