Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V for the department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, performs research activities in the studies of dopaminergic signaling in the mouse brain. Performs work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures relative to Parkinson's disease research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant science required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience an asset relative to in vivo mouse work (stereotaxic injection, behavioral analysis, perfusion and immunohistology).

Responsibilities

  • As directed, performs various research and technical operations relative to the ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory specific to in vivo mouse work. Keep detailed records of procedures and experiments.
  • Mouse colony management (this includes designing breeding schemes and genotyping several transgenic lines with minimal to no error).
  • As instructed, performs intracranial stereotaxic injection of viral vectors followed by locomotor behavioral analysis (this includes troubleshooting and validation of methodology).
  • Collaborate with postdocs and students in the lab to perform intracardial perfusion, cryosection and immunohistology analysis. Assists with training fellows, medical students and undergraduate researchers in laboratory techniques as directed.
  • Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures suggesting revisions where necessary, and proposing new procedures where required.
