Professors Omer Gokcumen (Biology) and Ekin Atilla (Chemistry) are seeking a highly motivated Research Support Specialist to join our collaborative program at the intersection of lipid biology, cell death, and evolutionary genomics. The project, primarily led by the Gokcumen Laboratory, investigates the evolutionary genomics of lipid-related pathways, with a particular focus on genomic structural variation in humans. The research support specialist will also contribute to the Atilla Laboratory, which explores lipid signaling and membrane dynamics during different cell fates, using state-of-the-art approaches in lipidomics, chemical biology, and advanced imaging. Working closely with both laboratories, the research support specialist will investigate the functional and evolutionary impact of lipid-related genetic variation. This integrative program offers a unique opportunity to bridge mechanistic cell biology with evolutionary insight, linking genomic variation to lipid-related biological traits.
