About The Position

Immediate opening for a Research Support Staff is available at Neurochemistry, Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg, New York. The successful candidate will participate in the acquisition and analysis of pharmacological and behavioral data related to alcohol drinking studies using a mouse model.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biological and chemical Sciences or a related field is required
  • Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience in mouse husbandry, behavioral pharmacology, and biochemistry (e.g., ELISA, mouse perfusion and brain dissections, Western blotting, PCR, electrophoresis) is preferred.
  • some research experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the acquisition and analysis of pharmacological and behavioral data related to alcohol drinking studies using a mouse model.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively.
