About The Position

At the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) we are committed to providing highway safety and security through excellence in service, education and enforcement. This Research and Statistics Consultant position supports the Office of Professional Compliance by leading data driven research and analysis, preparing concise reports and presentations, coordinating statewide analytic projects, and serving as a communication liaison to internal and external stakeholders. This role advances agency strategy through actionable insights on the complaint intake process, patrol vehicle crashes, and related discipline trends, while fostering teamwork, professional development, and a culture of ethical leadership.

Requirements

Be able to successfully apply a solid working knowledge of research, data analysis, spatial analysis and mapping, and statistical tools and methodologies in the collection, analysis and reporting of statistical data (particularly in a law enforcement capacity).
Possess strong database management (building, integrating and maintaining) and statistical analysis and reporting software skills to successfully collect and compile data and to prepare reports, charts, graphs, diagrams and other pictorial representations of statistical data.
Be solutions oriented with the ability to use critical thinking, judgment and problem-solving techniques to effectively evaluate information and make sound decisions.
Have a strategic focus with the ability to understand, evaluate and integrate the needs of the Department to drive operational assessment, resource allocation, and strategic planning and change management initiatives.
Possess excellent active listening, oral and written communication skills to include the ability to effectively articulate and convey information so that it is readily understandable.
Possess strong business application skills such as Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
Be able to effectively organize and manage a busy workload, balance multiple priorities, and meet designated timeframes without compromising accuracy, attention to detail or follow-through.

The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
