About The Position

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Research Specialist (Research Services Entry Professional). This position is a key member of the school’s Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity & Diabetes (LEAD) Center that will conduct study visits and support the center’s laboratory and biorepository. In-person research visits will include consenting, biospecimen collection, anthropomorphic measurements, and questionnaire administration. The Research Specialist will be expected to handle sensitive participant data in a HIPAA compliant manner, and well as perform accurate data entry in REDCap and FreezerPro databases. This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) position that reports to the Biorepository Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering a community that values a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
  • Ability to understand and accurately carry out activities for multiple studies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
  • Ability to accurately perform data entry.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public health research
  • Experience using data entry databases, especially experience with data entry in REDCap
  • Experience in biospecimen processing techniques
  • Experience conducting in-person research visits or clinical experience
  • Experience with SAS coding

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person research visits, including consenting, physical measurements, phlebotomy, and questionnaire administration
  • Set up data collection kits for visits and complete data entry
  • Process biospecimen, including frozen biospecimen pulls, aliquoting, and shipping
  • Maintain SAS code to manage a lab results dataset
  • Perform data QA/QC in the FreezerPro database
  • Regulatory compliance
