The Research Specialist will perform complex experiments related to projects in the laboratory and will be a primary experimenter and data analyst for neurobiological and immunological studies. This role performs complex experiments including: western blot, ELISA , immunohistochemistry, RT- PCR , animal treatments, animal sacrifice and perfusion, genotyping, animal colony management, and tissue preparation. The Research Specialist will be responsible for planning methods and techniques, conducting procedures, recording results, and assisting in the interpretation of data for each experiment. This work is guided by a general outline developed by the researcher and requires the exercise of judgment and a basic theoretical knowledge of biology, chemistry, and neurobiology. This role may include coordinating laboratory facility, equipment and supplies as well as coordinating and supervising the activities of other students and technicians in the lab.
