Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of assays and experiments specific to area of research.
  • Make contributions to various aspects of research efforts.
  • Troubleshoot routine issues and make independent decisions.
  • Train and guide other lab personnel.
  • Plan and run experiments after discussion with the investigator.
  • Make protocol modifications within parameters set by the investigator.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge to interpret results and evaluate outcomes.
  • Order equipment and supplies, and interface with vendors.
  • Evaluate whether component parts of experiments are functioning correctly.
  • Teach and train students and new technicians in the lab.
  • Facilitate problem solving for entry-level lab members.
  • Participate in protocol development, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Assist in the development of new techniques and instruments.
  • Apply published research methods to current experimental work.
  • Contribute to writing manuscripts and grants, particularly methodology sections.
  • Process analyzed data into figures for scientific publications.
