About The Position

The Research Specialist will work on two significant research projects supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, focusing on late-life suicide. The role involves conducting longitudinal studies to assess the interplay of biological and psychological factors affecting suicide risk in older adults. The specialist will engage in data collection, diagnostic interviews, and neuropsychological assessments, contributing to a collaborative research environment aimed at understanding and mitigating suicide risk among the elderly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, or a related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working or volunteering with older populations or individuals experiencing mental health problems preferred.
  • Experience with Redcap or other data management systems preferred.
  • Experience with diagnostic interviews and neuropsychological assessments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, and obtaining written consent forms.
  • Collect data by conducting phone, virtual, and face-to-face visits for research projects.
  • Attend the inpatient psychiatric unit and/or the sleep and behavioral neuroscience center to administer assessments.
  • Provide administrative support when needed.
  • Conduct structured diagnostic interviews, mood, behavioral, psychosocial, and neuropsychological assessments under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Participate in weekly project-specific and lab enrichment meetings.
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, and outcomes of interviews.
