About The Position

The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Research Specialist B/C to support research projects by conducting experiments or studies, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining research tools, equipment, or project resources. The position involves contributing to study design, documentation, and reporting, and collaborating with investigators and staff to ensure projects are carried out effectively and in compliance with established protocols. The Research Specialist B will carry out basic laboratory techniques to study the role of microglia and the immune system in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Responsibilities include lab management, ordering supplies, keeping inventory, human and mouse cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, and sequencing library preparation. Experience in cell culture and cell-based assays is desired. Additional responsibilities include detailed record keeping, writing, and presenting research results to the PI, and implementing laboratory policies and procedures. The Research Specialist C will perform the same duties but is required to have more experience in research planning and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience for Research Specialist B.
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-4 years of experience for Research Specialist C.
  • Experience in cell culture and cell-based assays.
