About The Position

The Research Specialist, Cancer Prevention and Control Program - Georgetown University will assist with behavioral health research projects related to patient experiences with cancer screening and cancer survivors’ experiences. The employee will support the enrollment of participants into these research studies, including in-person and telephone recruitment, screening patients for eligibility, and ongoing contact with participants to optimize retention. The employee will also be involved in preparing participant materials, interacting with clinic staff, data collection (via interviews, focus groups, and surveys), data entry, data tracking, maintaining files, and conducting quality assurance. The employee will also contribute to the development of research products, including research reports. The employee will need to have experience with behavioral research. Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail/organizational skills are essential. Ability to function as member of a team in an interdisciplinary research environment and interface with outside collaborators is also critical. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Managing day-to-day tasks, operations, and adherence of research project protocols. Recruit and enroll participants for research studies. Coordinate data management and analyses from research projects. Contribute to the development of research data reports. Ensure regulatory records are maintained and accurate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s-degree in behavioral and health sciences (e.g., psychology, public health, pre-professional, social sciences), or a related field.
  • Previous experience as part of a research team in an academic setting (0-2 years preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Spanish language proficiency (both oral and written)
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with clinical research (e.g., gathering informed consent, interacting with participants/patients, collecting data, etc.).
  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews and/or leading focus groups.
  • Skills in clinical trial data management using electronic platforms (e.g., OnCore).
  • Training in ethical conduct of human subject’s research (e.g., CITI Training).
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R), qualitative coding programs (e.g., Dedoose, MAXQDA), and REDCap survey software.
  • Experience with literature reviews and using a reference manager program (e.g., EndNote, Zotero).
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis.
  • Interest in cancer-related and/or behavioral health-related topics.
