About The Position

The primary duties of this full-time position will be to perform molecular biology, biochemistry and/or structural biology, and cell culture experiments designed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of pre-mRNA splicing and its role in disease, as well as the structure and function of the Six1/Eya transcriptional complex for anti-cancer drug design. Requirements

  • Entry Professional: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, molecular biology or a related field A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
  • Intermediate Professional: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, molecular biology or a related field A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis One (1) year professional level research experience
  • Senior Professional: Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis Two (2) years professional level research experience
  • Principal Professional Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis Three (3) years professional level research experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • One (1) to Two (2) years of experience or background within an experimental or wet lab
  • Prior experience in analytical chemistry, especially ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry

Responsibilities

  • Molecular biology experiments including sub-cloning and mutagenesis
  • Protein and/or RNA expression and purification
  • Biochemical and biophysical analyses of protein/protein interaction and/or enzyme function
  • Mammalian cell culture experiments
  • Evaluate small molecule compounds in biochemical and cell culture experiments
  • If interested, the PRA can learn to prepare EM grids, collect data and determine the cryo-EM structure of protein or protein-RNA complexes
  • Assistance in basic operation of lab, including preparation of solutions and autoclaving material
