The Research Senior Technician provides advanced, independent support for federally funded and institutionally sponsored research studies within the Ewing Research Lab, with a primary focus on cancer prevention, health disparities, and digital health interventions. This position plays a central role in the day-to-day coordination and execution of research activities, including participant recruitment and outreach, data collection and management, regulatory documentation, and study operations across multiple concurrent projects. The Research Senior Technician works closely with the Principal Investigator and interdisciplinary research team to ensure studies are conducted in accordance with approved protocols, timelines, and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include coordinating participant engagement efforts (e.g., outreach, screening, consent, scheduling), supporting community-engaged and participant-centered research activities, including culturally responsive outreach and engagement strategies, managing study materials and incentives, maintaining accurate research records, and overseeing data entry and quality assurance using platforms such as REDCap and secure institutional databases. The Research Senior Technician supports IRB submissions and modifications, prepares study documentation, assists with protocol implementation, and monitors study progress to identify and resolve operational issues. This role requires independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining compliance with institutional policies and sponsor expectations. In addition, the Research Senior Technician contributes to broader research team functions by assisting with training and mentoring of students or hourly staff, supporting preparation of reports and presentations, and facilitating communication among internal and external collaborators. Assist with onboarding and task-level training of students or hourly staff as assigned (does not include formal supervision). The position requires demonstrated experience in human subjects research, familiarity with research compliance standards, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic research environment. The Research Senior Technician is expected to exercise discretion, professionalism, and initiative while supporting the lab’s mission to advance high-quality, community-engaged research. This role offers opportunities for professional growth through involvement in publications, grant activities, and advanced research operations.
