About The Position

Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study the psychoneuroimmunology of circadian rhythms and cancer treatments as directed in the Institute of Brain, Behavior and Immunology (Previously the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research, IBMR); independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, immunoassays, and cell cultures; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; executes laboratory rodent experiments, including advanced behavioral testing; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; assists with development, implementation, and training for new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed; performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience required
  • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conducts assigned experiments
  • Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, immunoassays, and cell cultures
  • Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
  • Executes laboratory rodent experiments, including advanced behavioral testing
  • Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
  • Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
  • Assists with development, implementation, and training for new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
  • Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
  • Prepares research progress reports
