As a Research Scientist on our Global Defense team, you’ll learn and apply innovative AI, machine learning, and research methodologies to make a real-world impact on across various research and data analytics projects. You’ll grow your skills in data science, AI, machine learning operationalization process, and predictive modeling and shape the future of analytics through a variety of means like peer-reviewed papers, major conference presentations, or code submissions. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading complex domain research and data science or analytics projects, including in the defense, health, or manpower fields
  • Experience with programming in Python and R, including coding practices, advanced data structures and comprehension techniques, complex data manipulation, database integration, and use of scientific or ML ecosystems such as pandas or R tidyverse
  • Knowledge of Department of War (DoW) data providers, data systems, and key datasets, including Defense Health Agency (DHA), Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), and Medical Data Repository (MDR)
  • Ability to independently explore and operationalize data sources using proven scientific processes and methods, employing advances modeling techniques and technologies
  • Ability to mentor junior scientists or analysts and guide analytic or IT strategy across multiple projects and stakeholder groups
  • Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Psychology

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Palantir Vantage or similar Foundry-based solutions
  • Knowledge of DoW defense mission area domains and military operations
  • Ability to expertly coordinate with cross‑functional teams, subcontractors, or multi‑disciplinary stakeholder groups
