Position Overview The Research Scientist, with limited guidance from more experienced scientists, works individually and in collaboration with others on multiple projects which are moderate to complex in scope. The Research Scientist I plays an active role in planning of projects and experiments and is often the technical lead responsible for the successful execution of the project. This position involves independently making detailed observations, analyzing data and interpreting results. Working in a team setting, the Research Scientist I, will primarily be involved in Research and Development projects serving as a technical lead in translating research ideas and concepts into the product development pipeline towards development of diagnostic assay products. The Research Scientist will contribute to the Product Development team by advancing projects from initial proof-of-concept through each phase of development, ultimately facilitating assay transfer to the production environment. Responsibilities include: assessment and optimization of nucleic acid extraction chemistries, designing and optimizing next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays, analyzing and interpreting complex NGS data, validating methodologies, supporting laboratory automation development, preparing regulatory documentation, and collaborating across functions to further clinical diagnostics and precision medicine initiatives.
