About The Position

The Research Scientist will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the clinical and translational research initiatives of The Women’s Heart Center in close collaboration with the medical director and team. This position involves designing and implementing research studies, analyzing and visualizing data, publishing and presenting data, and securing research funding. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiovascular research, epidemiology, or a related field and a passion for advancing women’s cardiovascular health. Key responsibilities include: 1. Research & Data Analysis: Work in collaboration with medical director, physician-investigators, and external collaborators to design large multi-phase investigator-initiated research protocols across TCH-WHC focus areas. Maintain a high-level knowledge of current advancements/publications of women’s cardiovascular health. Utilize this knowledge in the advancement of research projects and development of research materials. Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of research data. Provide detailed communication and training to relevant TCH-WHC team members to ensure scientific integrity. Ensure all projects are executed according to approved protocols and appropriate scientific standards. Monitor projects progress, identify risks, maintain documentation, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Resolve project roadblocks through problem-solving to ensure project milestones are met. 2. Grant Writing & Funding: Identify research funding opportunities and lead preparation of grant applications to secure research funding (e.g., federal, foundation, institutional). Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop grant proposals and research protocols. 3. Scientific Writing, Publications & Dissemination: Work closely with the medical director and research team to complete scientific writing activities to produce high quality research materials including grant applications, manuscripts, abstracts, data visualizations, posters, literature reviews, and presentations. Prepare detailed progress reports, presentations, and publications for internal and external stakeholders, including funding agencies, academic conferences, and scientific journals. 4. Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with the medical director, cardiologists, fellows, and other research team members to drive research initiatives. Collaborate with internal/external partners to explore new research directions and secure funding for research. May interact with funding agencies (program officials, etc.), assist with progress reports, and updating schedules and scopes as needed. Mentor and train research interns, medical students, and fellows in research methodology, data analysis, and dissemination of research results. 5. Strategic Planning: Contribute to strategic planning and program development for the advancement of TCH-WHC research program beyond the project level, including (but not limited to) facilitating collaborations, maximizing research project outputs, and potential funding opportunities. Help develop organizational methods, SOPs, data collection tools/forms, analysis plans, and methodologies for relevant research projects. 6. Regulatory & Compliance: Help ensure and oversee compliance with research protocols and applicable ethical and regulatory standards. Maintain accurate documentation of research processes to ensure data integrity and reproducibility.
