Plans, coordinates, directs, and participates in work of smaller research project or major unit of large research project in field of specialization for which incumbent is particularly qualified in terms of extensive training and/or experience. This position will play a key role in the CPRIT-funded Data Science and AI Core for Population Research (DAICOR), contributing to the development, implementation, and deployment of advanced imaging-based AI tools to improve early cancer detection and population-level cancer research. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining machine learning and deep learning models for medical image analysis across diverse cancer screening modalities; developing and optimizing pipelines for image preprocessing, harmonization, and integration with the DAICOR secure digital platform; and leading rigorous validation studies. The Research Scientist will collaborate closely with clinicians, data scientists, and population researchers to extract imaging-derived biomarkers, support multimodal data integration efforts, and contribute substantively to scientific manuscripts, progress reports, and grant-related deliverables.
