About The Position

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a state wide campus, with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county. It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. The Division headquarters is located in Little Rock with the rest of the University of Arkansas System Administration. The successful candidate will help develop research and secure funding through grant writing focused on integrated weed management strategies that build on sound weed ecology principles. The candidate will help with oversight and mentoring of graduate students and is expected to work collaboratively with others scientists within the program and other faculty across the state.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in weed science

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and greenhouse-based research
  • Complete on-going projects
  • Assist with securement of extramural support, particularly federal grants
  • Design, conduct, and publish research relevant to the project director’s areas of research emphasis
  • Present results at scientific meetings
  • Supervise graduate students in data collection, analysis, writing, and preparation of presentations.
