About The Position

The Research Scientist position will primarily focus on advancing the research efforts of UH Seidman Cancer Center. This individual will have general oversight and support responsibilities for the research activities of UH SCC's research program and is expected to participate in and support SCC and UH in several other areas including, but not limited to the following: What You Will Do Support the academic aspects of SCC-related programs Assist in the RFP and scholar selection process for SCC programs Oversee grant writing and other academic/laboratory funding initiatives Help recruit & retain outstanding researchers Develop and advance scientific research in advance of PI Collaborate with laboratory staff and engage in activities Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree including but not limited to (MD, DDS, DO or the equivalent) (Required)
  • 10+ years of experience in relevant research (Required)
  • 10+ years experience in relevant research activities (Required)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. (Required proficiency)
  • In-depth knowledge of drug development process. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated management and people leadership skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively. (Required proficiency)
  • Management skills inclusive of goal setting and continuous quality improvement processes (Required proficiency)
  • Strong project and time management skills with the ability to manage competing requests. (Required proficiency)
  • Strong communications/ interpersonal skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills (Required proficiency)
  • Must present in a professional, collected manner. (Required proficiency)
  • Must possess strong drive, exceptional motivation and follow through. (Required proficiency)
  • Proficient in all office technology. (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of scientific applications. (Required proficiency)
