For more information, visit www.coopervision.com . Job Summary: We are seeking a scientist to join the CVI research team based in California. Our experienced team is built with both clinically trained and research trained members with responsibilities to identify and evaluate novel contact lens and ophthalmic interventions designed to solve unmet needs within the eyecare community. Team responsibilities range from initial ideation and invention to rigorous benchtop and clinical testing of ophthalmic devices. We are responsible for developing the next generation of products for CooperVision Inc. Important skills within our team include high quality verbal and written communication to the broader CooperVision and Eyecare communities, and the ability to work closely with remote research partners and cross functional departments within R&D. Considerable time and efforts center on conceiving of and evaluating novel ideas related to optical technologies and vision science. A successful candidate will be eager to apply research skills to the real-world task of developing improved optics in contact lenses for vision correction.

Requirements

  • Competent in research design, data analysis, statistical analysis
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity when exploring new findings or technologies.
  • Demonstrates initiative when tackling complex or novel problems.
  • (PhD + 2 years) or (OD or equivalent + PhD) or (OD or equivalent + MS + 1 year work experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software related to optics and vision is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary, cross functional research teams to complete activities and reach milestones of well-defined research projects
  • Solid research design skills to support the design and writing of scientifically rigorous research protocols.
  • Solid data analysis skills to help supervisors interpret research results and to write reports, delivering clear data visualization and conclusions.
  • Work closely with established external partners to define scope of work; ensures appropriate study conduct, data integrity and transfer to the CVI team.
  • Participate in team efforts to identify current trends in optical and vision research.
  • Participate in the dissemination of research results within the broader CooperVision community and to the clinical research community via presentations and publications.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of optics, vision science, and/or contact lens performance
