About The Position

Kerry Inc. seeks Research Scientist at its facility located at 3400 Millington Road, Beloit, Wisconsin 53511. This position involves leading formulation and concept development from end-to-end on internal and customer projects within North America for the Snacks End Use market. The role requires sound commercial and technical awareness of ingredients processes, end use market, and customer requirements to deliver on project objectives. The Research Scientist will develop innovative solutions to help grow customers and the company's market share within cost parameters and manufacturing capabilities while ensuring all new products are legal within the country of use. Responsibilities also include managing Pilot Plant validation work and facilitating first production trials of new products internally and with third-party manufacturers. Building strong relationships with customer contacts through clear communication, both on-site and via virtual visits, is essential. The role supports sales and business representatives during customer calls through technical presentations and product demonstrations, and involves working within cross-functional teams to optimize the strengths of the company and deliver the best experience for customers. The Research Scientist will study methods to improve product quality, including flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, and physical, chemical, microbiological composition, and statistical data. Familiarity with spray dry and dry blending technologies is required, along with the ability to travel to Kerry manufacturing facilities and customer sites for presentations, project feedback, and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Food Science, Nutritional Science, Food Engineering, Biosystem Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a Research Scientist or related occupation.
  • Experience developing dry-blended and spray-dried seasonings for snack applications.
  • Experience analyzing Cp values and Cpk values for improvements.
  • Experience manipulating physical parameters of powder via formulation and process.
  • Experience leading lexicon training of sensory attributes.
  • Experience reverse engineering market or competitor products.
