About The Position

The Research Scientist role at Schreiber Foods involves developing innovative products and manufacturing processes to meet customer needs. This position focuses on modifying existing products to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness, while also supporting contract manufacturing customers with projects and trials. Located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, the role requires collaboration with various teams to commercialize new products and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food/dairy science or a related field.
  • 1-3 years' experience in research and/or product development.
  • Cultured dairy products manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of dairy components.
  • Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Work in production and pilot plant locations.
  • Develop defined work plans, conduct experiments, and write reports.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the R&D product development SOP.
  • Apply basic quality tools and explore new project work.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Understand Schreiber Foods product categories, including regulatory standards and labeling practices.
  • Develop expertise in a specific product category.
  • Involve in new ingredient and formula set-up by developing specifications and production manuals.
  • Plan and conduct scale-up trials at customer requests or for product development.
  • Commercialize newly developed and approved prototypes.
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists, operations, marketing, engineering, and customers to accomplish projects.
  • Identify and implement new ingredients and manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Develop robust products, processes, and technology using sound experimental design.
  • Maintain strong application of the scientific method.
  • Convey technical concepts and write detailed reports effectively.
  • Evaluate ideas and opportunities using scientific principles.
  • Expand global network within food & dairy industries and academia.
  • Apply good business sense to determine applicability to the business.
