The Research Scientist Intern position at Meta Reality Labs focuses on advancing the field of neural rendering and compression for augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) systems. The role involves collaborating with expert researchers and engineers to develop innovative algorithms and prototypes that enhance AR/VR experiences. Interns will engage in cutting-edge research, contribute to high-quality publications, and work on projects that push the boundaries of graphics technology.

  • Design and develop novel neural rendering, perceptual aware rendering, neural compression, and generative 3D algorithms.
  • Deliver state-of-the-art research outcomes to advance neural rendering research.
  • Accelerate development of graphics-related research projects.
  • Conceive and develop novel rendering solutions from idea to prototypes.
  • Implement proof-of-concept technical prototypes and systems for AR/VR visual experiences.
  • Develop highly optimized real-time solutions with GPU rendering and machine learning applied to graphics.
  • Learn constantly and educate others while embracing the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary research and engineering teams.
  • Currently pursuing or has obtained a PhD in Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in C/C++, Python, or machine learning programming.
  • Familiarity with at least one popular deep learning framework, such as PyTorch.
  • Basic knowledge of image formation models and graphics rendering pipelines.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in neural rendering, generative 3D, or related research.
  • Knowledge of real-time or offline rendering.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.
  • Graphics experience with understanding of key rendering concepts like lighting and shading, PBR materials, and ray tracing.
  • Hands-on experience in GPU design/optimization and real-time ray tracing or rasterization solutions.
  • Experience with various types of 3D geometry and geometry compression.
  • Experience in real-time game engine development.
  • Demonstrated software engineering experience within a complex codebase.
  • Proven track record of significant results in research or development.
  • Competitive monthly salary ranging from $7,800 to $11,293.
