About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Research Psychologist to support research focused on optimizing human performance, selection and classification, and social/behavioral dynamics at the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. This role involves conducting research that addresses medical, psychological, and performance issues affecting naval personnel, ultimately contributing to their resilience and wellness in operational settings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in experimental psychology, Industrial/Organizational psychology, psychophysics, cognitive psychology, social psychology, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Willingness to engage in broad research and management experience in the human performance domain.
  • Evidence of scientific achievement through publication of articles and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professional colleagues.
  • Ability to acquire a SECRET classification access level.

Nice To Haves

  • Current SECRET clearance level (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Identify Navy-relevant research topics in human performance, selection and classification, or social/behavioral dynamics.
  • Write research pre-proposals, research protocols, formal technical reports, and journal publications.
  • Support execution of approved research projects by determining requirements and managing resources.
  • Assist project manager with the administration of Submarine Screening (SUBSCREEN).
  • Develop project estimate sheets for operational and research projects.
  • Oversee the administration of a psychological screening program, including budget development.
  • Develop and evaluate methodologies, write standards of procedure, and perform quality assurance checks.
  • Conduct research studies to assess organizational functioning and develop personnel screening tools.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of item development, scale development, and factor analysis.
  • Prepare summaries and publications for various audiences and maintain collaborative relationships with NSMRL personnel.

  • Competitive salary range of $65,000.00 - $117,500.00 based on experience and qualifications.
