Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Scientist II for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The primary role of the clinical Research Scientist II (RS II) position, under the direction of the Principal Investigator, is to manage daily clinical and translational research activities and to function as the primary contact for various external collaborators, patent attorneys, corporate officials, and inter-institutional departments to ensure compliance with institutional, federal, and state regulatory agencies. The RS will perform specialized research, collect data, and perform advanced statistical analysis under the direct supervision of the PI. The RS will assist with the preparation of grant applications, reports and scientific manuscripts as requested, as well as with mentorship of junior lab members. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Independently coordinates and communicates directly with the Principal Investigator, clinical research staff, and sponsors to manage the operation and evaluation activities of assigned clinical research studies. Ensures projects meet the goals and objective of the funder. Meets with senior clinical research scientists, including Principal Investigator (or designee) to participate in the establishment of goals and objectives for the clinical research program consistent with the budgetary, workforce, and policy framework of the department or decision. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing new clinical IND applications. Consults and advises with members of the unit on the content, timing, and documentation necessary for proposals/agreements to be submitted/executed. Assists PIs and research staff with making necessary amendments to obtain protocol approval. Develops and implements experiments aimed to move IP technology into translational applications.
