About The Position

Avalere Health's Market Access Practice is seeking a Research Scientist II to join its analytics team. This role leverages advanced Excel modeling, data visualization, and technical expertise in market access and commercial analytics to address critical business challenges for life sciences companies, health plans, providers, and other stakeholders. Key focus areas include: • Developing advanced Excel-based models for gross-to-net forecasting, ASP trends, and scenario planning. • Building efficient workflows for data extraction, visualization, and reporting to enhance analytic delivery. • Creating intuitive data visualizations to communicate complex analyses effectively. • Mentoring junior analysts in Excel modeling, data handling, and technical approaches. • Supporting strategic planning for life science companies related to pricing and contracting decisions across a portfolio of products, channels, and customers. This role is ideal for a technical expert passionate about advanced modeling, process efficiencies, and developing the next generation of analysts. Requirements

  • Strong technical background and experience in market access analytics or consulting for biopharma manufacturers.
  • Expert-level Excel modeling skills, including advanced formulas, VBA, and scenario planning for price forecasting and data analysis.
  • Experience developing tools and workflows to improve efficiencies in data extraction and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Tableau or other data visualization tools, with a focus on creating actionable insights.
  • Advanced understanding of healthcare data sources, including payer claims, formulary data, and market access metrics.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in healthcare analytics, with a focus on market access or biopharma-related roles, with at least 2 years of direct experience developing forecast models.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex analytic results into actionable insights.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience mentoring and guiding junior team members in technical work.

Nice To Haves

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in health economics, biostatistics, data science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Familiarity with market access concepts such as payer coverage, reimbursement strategies, and ASP and gross-to-net forecasting.
  • Hands-on experience working with life sciences manufacturers or market access consulting firms.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing advanced Excel-based models with complex formulas, VBA scripting, and scenario planning capabilities.
  • Leading the creation of internal tools to standardize and streamline common data extractions and visualizations.
  • Collaborating with clients to translate their business challenges into structured analytic approaches.
  • Mentoring junior analysts in Excel modeling techniques, quality control, and efficiency improvements.
  • Establishing best practices for modeling, data handling, and visualization workflows to drive team efficiency.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, quality, and consistency of analytic outputs.
  • Building and managing data dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to visualize market access data.
