About The Position

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our team in Boston, MA. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting small molecule drug development by applying functional genomics techniques to address key biological questions. This position requires a strong background in biological sciences and hands-on laboratory experience.
This is a contract role.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
• PhD in Biological Sciences, OR
• Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with flow cytometry and next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments to support genomics research, including cell culture, gene editing, flow cytometry, and next-generation sequencing.
• Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of results.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data and contribute to project goals.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the laboratory environment.
