The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 4 to join their team. The Raftery research group focuses on developing new methods and applications of metabolite profiling using a combination of mass spectrometry (MS) and NMR platforms which provide a broad-based approach for biomarker discovery and systems biology research. The main purpose of this position is to analyze the metabolomics data that we generate, as well as complementary, available genomic or proteomic data for several projects focused on understanding the biology of aging. The aging studies focus on numerous organisms, including humans, dogs, flies and through the Nathan Shock Center, mice or other model organisms. The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 4 to join the Raftery lab to investigate the biology of aging using metabolomics, genomics, and systems biology. This position is at 100% FTE. The RSE4 will need a high level of skill in oral and written scientific communication and extensive knowledge of systems biology, statistics and computational methods. The position will focus primarily on the statistical and pathway analysis of the complex metabolite data, including generating creative and new methods of analysis of the data, but will also involve biological interpretation and assisting other researchers with study design. The Scientist will be responsible for generating draft manuscripts and in assisting with proposal writing.
