About The Position

OVERVIEW: This position would manage day-to-day operations of the Keck Microscopy Center. The RSE would provide imaging analysis to center users and help support research projects. This researcher will broadly support research at the intersection of cell, molecular, and developmental biology using quantitative imaging tools.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Physics, or a related field and four years of experience with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting fluorescence-based light microscopes in a research setting.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Nice To Haves

PhD in Biological Science, Physics, or a related field.
Minimum of four years of dedicated experience in wide-field and confocal microscopy.
Solid background in applying a wide range of imaging and imaging analysis techniques in biological systems, including cell and tissue samples.
Familiarity with conventional and machine learning based image processing approaches.
In-depth knowledge of principles and application of microscopy, including confocal microscopy.
Skills in developing and implementing policies and training programs for microscope systems.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with multiple users.

Responsibilities

Maintain, operate, and provide training for optical microscopy equipment and image analysis software.
Maintain the facility’s microscopy equipment and regularly check the performance of the optical systems and perform necessary alignment and calibrations.
Support research projects through the application of quantitative imaging tools.
Provide core administrative support (logging, billing) related to the the operations of the imaging center.
