About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our “Cell Hub” team within the High Throughput Human Biology (HTHB) group at our Boston Research facility. The Cell Hub is dedicated to the maintenance, tracking, quality control (QC), and production of cell biomass for critical assays and high throughput screenings, as well as the development of innovative techniques for large-scale production of complex cell models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cell biology, with experience in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) expansion and differentiation and 3D complex cell models. This role requires a detail-oriented, collaborative individual with a passion for in vitro cell culture and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines with 0-3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in cell biology, including iPSC expansion and differentiation.
  • Experience with 3D complex cell models and primary tissue-derived cultures.
  • Proficiency in cell culture workflow optimization.
  • Strong technical skills in experimental design, execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in maintaining electronic lab notebooks and generating QC reports.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in presenting research findings to peers and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to produce cellular biomass for critical assays.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot experimental protocols.
  • Manage acquisition, tracking, storage, and QC of essential cell culture reagents.
  • Work with various cell models, including immortalized cell lines, iPSC-derived cell models (2D and 3D), and primary tissue-derived cultures.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to enable automation of workflows.
  • Identify and implement technological improvements to enhance cell culture processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic lab notebooks, including material tracking, QC reports, and data recording for project teams.
  • Present research findings effectively at internal department or project team meetings.
  • Contribute to nonclinical study reports and publication preparation.
  • Actively participate in the HTHB team and represent the Cell Hub on interdisciplinary project teams.
