About The Position

American Ecotech is seeking a motivated and experienced Research Scientist specializing in Atmospheric Physics and Light Scattering to support our Research and Development team. The role involves planning and executing government grants and internally funded projects aimed at developing advanced air monitoring equipment, driving new product development initiatives, and implementing upgrades to existing commercial equipment.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Physics/Chemistry or related field
• 5 years of experience in light scattering, atmospheric science, and/or small particulate detection
• Proven experience in leading scientific research projects utilizing sound methodology
• Experience managing multiple projects from conception through completion
• Fundamental understanding of conventional instrumental analysis techniques
• Experience explaining and modeling fundamental light scattering phenomena
• Technical knowledge of hardware including photomultiplier tubes (PMT) and optical components
• Strong fundamentals in data analysis and statistical methods
• Ability to utilize computer programming (e.g. Python) for optimized analysis of large datasets

Responsibilities

• Project planning and execution (85%)
• Performing and overseeing lab testing
• Allocating tasks to the R&D team and other technical staff
• Working with research institute partners to complete project deliverables
• Grant writing with the help of dedicated grant writing staff (10%)
• Patent/publication writing with the help of other scientists on the R&D team (5%)
