About The Position

The position involves managing the Analytical Laboratory Team in Wauwatosa to provide technical support for BU R D, manufacturing plants, and Bostik customers. The role includes managing expectations and performance, including safety performance, and developing the careers of subordinate personnel using Bostik's Performance Management process. The manager will work within established safety guidelines, provide suggestions for process and safety improvements, and offer professional input on the selection and purchasing of analytical instrumentation and specialized analyses. Additionally, the manager is responsible for the maintenance and repair of some equipment and will provide input on workflow processes and documentation for the Analytical Laboratory. The role requires effective engagement with business and technical resources to interpret, solve, and communicate complex technical problems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science or related field (Masters or PhD preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial laboratory or equivalent proven ability to manage multiple complex projects in a service laboratory.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills with technical and business resources.
  • Proven ability to lead/mentor a team of analysts.
  • Experience in multiple polymer characterization techniques including rheological, thermal, chromatographic and spectral techniques for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with adhesive and sealant chemistries, end uses, and formulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Analytical Laboratory Team to provide technical support for BU R D, manufacturing plants, and Bostik customers.

  • Execute and document calibration and verification procedures.
  • Support instrument maintenance and repair through troubleshooting and vendor coordination.
  • Coordinate with Analytical management team on priorities and resource assignments.
  • Support development and execution of strategic research/resource plans for the Analytical team.
  • Manage training and growth of a team of professional analysts.
