About The Position

Under the direction of a Research Scientist 1 or other supervisory official in a state department, institution, or agency, the selected candidate will conduct or participate in research projects or developed programs in a specified professional field. This role specifically involves overseeing data collection and analysis of fish and wildlife samples, developing research studies to determine the effects of PFAS on fish and wildlife species (particularly species of concern), collaborating with universities, non-profit organizations, and state and federal agencies, conducting general surveillance, performing literature reviews, and drafting reports.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position
  • Two (2) years of experience in a field appropriate to the position
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position
  • All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university
  • All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting
  • Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship, and Immigration Services regulations
  • Establish and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey within one year from the date of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with identification of wildlife pathogens, related pathology and related histology, including known vectors of transmission
  • Experience with maintaining a wildlife health laboratory and proper handling, and use of related scientific equipment
  • Experience with development of wildlife disease response plans in the case disease were to occur
  • A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine
