Propulsion Systems is seeking a Research Scientist 2 to join our Propulsion Systems Innovation (PSI) Manufacturing Technology and Thermal team in our Promontory, UT offices. Role description & Responsibilities: This research scientist position is responsible for providing technical expertise on development of warhead production techniques, cost estimation, and process design and automation. You will also be expected to have working knowledge of Fanuc robot capabilities and operation.

Requirements

  • 2 Years with Bachelors in an Engineering discipline OR 6 months of applicable experience with a Masters Degree.
  • Aerospace industry with related hands-on experience
  • Experience with warhead and rocket motor lining processes
  • Process control system experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Aeronautical Degree
  • At least 3 years in the Aerospace industry with related hands-on experience
  • Analytical instrumentation experience
  • Experience working with Fanuc robots
  • Ability to work well with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience with laboratory procedures and knowledge of safety requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance developing warhead lining and assembly methods
  • Process and process equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Provide support for robotic process development
  • Review of material and production specifications
  • Presentation of data and recommendations to internal and external customers
