About The Position

The Penn State College of Medicine, specifically the Center for Advancing Health Equity for Rural and Underserved Communities (CAHE-RUC), is seeking a Research Project Manager to join their team in Chicago, IL. This position is integral to the Center's mission of improving health outcomes for rural and underserved communities through comprehensive evaluation and implementation of evidence-based strategies. The Research Project Manager will provide program leadership and senior management for the CAHE-RUC Cancer Prevention Team, overseeing multiple research projects funded by various state, federal, and foundation sources. The successful candidate will work closely with the Cancer Prevention Director and other leadership to implement key local, state, and national initiatives aimed at enhancing cancer screening and early detection programs. This role involves collaboration with health system leadership to implement evidence-based interventions, as well as the supervision and guidance of program staff. The Research Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing research projects from initiation to conclusion, including study design, data collection, budget management, and funding opportunities. In addition to managing research workflows and project infrastructure, the Research Project Manager will enhance the usage of the Illinois Care Continuum Portal, interface with external collaborators for multi-site research, and assist in grant proposal writing and dissemination of program data. The position requires a strong background in cancer prevention, public health, project management, and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strategic thinking abilities, and a sensitivity to cultural differences, particularly when working with minority populations.
