The College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking a Research Program Coordinator - Project Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The Research Program Coordinator (Project Manager) is a member of the College of Agricultural Sciences research management team. Responsible for management of large externally and internally funded projects. The position provides high-level project management and administration that facilitates strategic planning, efficient resource management, and effective operation and communications of project activities, in support of project administration, technical advisory, technical assistance, and research teams (project teams). The Program Coordinator leads in establishing project policies, procedures, and grant administration in collaboration with the project teams. The position directs the production of required reports and acts as a liaison between project teams and all support services (internal and external to Oregon State University (OSU)) needed for the conduct of projects. The Program Coordinator works with OSU Financial Strategic Services to manage complex budgets, provides direct assistance to project partners and ensures that funding agency requirements are met during project execution and funding close out. The Program Coordinator prioritizes and completes multiple tasks with various deadlines while working closely with the project teams.

  • Provide high-level support to project administrators, technical advisory, technical assistance, and research project teams for day-to-day project management.
  • Organize project events such as project team meetings, workshops, and seminars across multiple states and multiple groups.
  • Direct the timely preparation of required accomplishment reports, gathering and synthesizing contributions from team members and internal and external partners.
  • Maintain timely and effective communications and work as a partner with OSU Financial Strategic Services staff.
  • Maintain detailed project timelines and help the project teams track their progress on tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Liaise with campus offices overseeing regulatory compliance issues.
  • Monitor budgets and resources to meet research project objectives.
  • Devise, recommend and implement solutions to programmatic challenges.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Track and communicate project reporting metrics and outcomes.
  • Lead and direct the work of others as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five combined years of experience providing project management, project coordination, and/or advanced administrative support.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, evaluate, prioritize, manage, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project activities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated high-quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a resource to a wide variety of constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead within an organization.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse group of internal customers.
  • Master's degree in a STEM field, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Two years combined experience in project management, coordination and/or advanced administrative support.
  • Experience balancing work between multiple teams, projects, or supervisors.
  • Experience in research support, budget management, executive leadership support, office management, event planning, or similar activities.
  • Experience working in an extension and research information delivery setting.
  • Experience working in higher education or government service.
  • Experience working with Native American nations or in international settings requiring cross-cultural skills.
  • Understanding of delivery of USDA conservation programs or similar government-supported programs.
