About The Position

This position will be perform environmental analysis, prepare microbiological media, oversee purchases, and help with data analysis. This position will interact with Associate Professor, Govindaraj Dev Kumar. Decisions made by this position will help impact the completion of funded projects, acquisition of funding, and publication of research articles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Familiar with a laboratory setting, in particular a microbiology laboratory.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in chemical analysis, fluorometric analysis, titrations, and microbiological media preparation.

Responsibilities

• Chemical and environmental analysis: Perform pH, aW and bile quantification analysis. Perform Biological oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand analysis.
• Microbiological media preparation: Prepare antibiotic stocks and supplement them in microbiological media. Prepare bacterial cultures and make frozen stocks of bacterial cultures. Perform all needed tasks to complete these processes.
• Supplies procurement: Place orders in UGAmart. These orders will include consumables (pipette, pipette tips, falcon tube, 96 well plates), PPE (lab coats, gloves) and microbiological media and buffers. Help in the general housekeeping of laboratory supplies and instruments.
• Data analysis: Record data in laboratory notebooks. Input data into excel spread sheets. Determine means and use ANOVA to determine significant differences in mean values.
