About The Position

Research Physical Therapist within the College of Health Professions reports directly to the Primary Investigator (PI) and assumes responsibility for various duties aimed at supporting the efficient functioning of assigned grant. These responsibilities include assisting the PI in planning, organizing, and implementing research activities in alignment with grant objectives, as well as recruiting, screening, and enrolling study participants according to approved protocols. The Research Physical Therapist collects, records, and manages study data with accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance; and monitors study progress while documenting observations and reporting concerns or protocol deviations to the PI. The role also ensures adherence to ethical standards, IRB requirements, and all institutional and federal regulations, while coordinating research appointments, maintaining study schedules, and providing clear instructions and support to participants. Additional responsibilities include supporting data analysis through data entry, verification, and preliminary interpretation; contributing to the preparation of reports, presentations, manuscripts, grants and grant documentation; participating in team meetings and assisting with problem-solving to maintain study efficiency; and performing other related duties as assigned to support successful project completion. The College of Health Professions (CHP) serves the state of Arkansas as the primary arm of the University of Arkansas in offering programs that provide education, service, and research in the allied health professions. The CHP mission is achieved through the varied offerings of its departments. The College, the only one of its kind at an academic health science center in Arkansas, has as its main role the education of allied health professionals to serve in the health care delivery system in the state. The specific educational programs currently offered within the College of Health Professions are provided by ten academic departments. They include: Audiology and Speech Pathology; Dental Hygiene; Dietetics and Nutrition; Genetic Counseling; Imaging and Radiation Sciences (Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Imaging Sciences, Radiologic Imaging Sciences); Laboratory Sciences (Cytotechnology, Medical Laboratory Sciences); Occupational Therapy; Physical Therapy; Physician Assistant Studies; and Respiratory Care.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree, either post-professional or DPT with advanced clinical specialization, plus three (3) years of experience as a licensed physical therapist.
  • Physical therapy license, or license eligible, in Arkansas.
  • Strong communication, organizational & interpersonal skills; ability to identify & solve problems.
  • Contemporary evidence-based clinical practice knowledge in geriatrics

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with conducting collaborative research in geriatrics
  • Publication/grantsmanship experience desired.

Responsibilities
