This is an entry-level nursing position. Training will be provided to develop the necessary skills required of a research nurse. The primary responsibility of the Research Nurse I is to manage RN responsibilities in the conduct of clinical trials. The Research Nurse I is required to have an in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements and good clinical practices as set forth by federal regulations. The Research Nurse I acts as a liaison between the patient, investigator, Institutional Review Board and sponsor in carrying out the RN responsibilities of the protocol. The Research Nurse I assists with screening, enrolling and following study patients, ensuring protocol compliance and close patient monitoring, all as part of the required learning process required in this primary position for advancement toward a Research Nurse II and III position. The Research Nurse I provides direct patient care for clinical trials subjects. The Research Nurse I assist with data and source documentation, adverse event reporting and maintenance of complete regulatory files, also as a part of the learning experience.

  • Manage RN responsibilities in the conduct of clinical trials.
  • Act as a liaison between the patient, investigator, Institutional Review Board and sponsor.
  • Assist with screening, enrolling and following study patients.
  • Ensure protocol compliance and close patient monitoring.
  • Provide direct patient care for clinical trials subjects.
  • Assist with data and source documentation.
  • Report adverse events and maintain complete regulatory files.
  • In-depth knowledge of Louisiana RN Scope of Practice regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of routine registered nurse procedures and familiarity with blood draws and infusions.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain all required CITI training certificates.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain credentialing at all required institutions: East Jefferson General Hospital and University Medical Center.
  • RN with current licensure required. Must be licensed through the State of Louisiana by the date of hire.
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator is a plus.
  • Computer/data entry experience desired.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly desired.
