This role will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders including client relationship managers and research staff to support key genealogical research initiatives and help drive business goals forward. The ideal candidate is adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, billable-hours environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional genealogical research experience, with skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History, English, or related field, or comparable experience.
  • Expertise in U.S. genealogical research with a specialty in the Mid-Atlantic and New England states, specifically colonial-era.
  • Proficient in applying DNA test results to genealogical research and experienced in advanced brick wall research methodologies and evidence analysis.
  • Skilled writer, able to create research journals/logs, citations, abstracts, academic research reports, and client communications.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team environment, providing coaching and feedback.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with attention to detail.

  • Genealogical accreditation or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead genealogical research projects focused on the Northeastern U.S., particularly New England, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, with an emphasis on colonial-era records.
  • Manage 30-60 client projects concurrently by defining scope, budget, and resource needs, ensuring projects meet session budgets and client expectations.
  • Research resource accessibility efficiently, identifying when research is feasible or unfeasible, and communicating promptly.
  • Produce thorough research logs, reports, and client updates aligned with company standards.
  • Organize, delegate, and oversee research efforts to ensure session objectives are met timely and accurately.
  • Maintain an average of 5.5 billable hours per day to meet annual billable hour targets.
  • Provide clear, timely communication with clients and research staff, setting expectations, giving and receiving feedback effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with client relationship managers (CRMs) and research staff to ensure project success.
  • Coach and supervise research pods if applicable, ensuring research quality, providing feedback, assigning tasks, and conducting regular meetings with team members.

  • As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, we are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $61,200 - $76,500 with eligibility for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision.
