About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Research Librarian / Assistant Professor, William S. Boyd School of Law. The Research Librarian / Assistant Professor is part of a team of JD-ed librarians who support student learning and faculty scholarship at the William S. Boyd School of Law and who otherwise contribute to the mission of the law school. This is a tenure-track law library faculty position. Law library faculty work with law faculty on scholarship and teaching, interact with students through teaching and outreach, engage in law school activities and initiatives, and participate in law school governance. An important component of each law library faculty member’s responsibilities is participation in the faculty liaison program which pairs law library and law faculty. Through the liaison program, law library faculty undertake complex research projects and otherwise support faculty scholarship by contributing to law school colloquia and other events, providing current awareness services, and advising on and tracking publication metrics and impact. Law library faculty are supported in their research by law student research assistants employed by the Law Library. In addition to guest lecturing in law school classes and developing and participating in library instructional outreach, law library faculty, as needs and expertise allow, may also teach formal, for-credit, upper-level classes in the law school, most often, but not exclusively, focused on subject-specific research sources, strategies, and methods. Over time and as interests and needs are assessed, librarians will have the opportunity to take responsibility for particular aspects of library services. Law library faculty are entitled to a generous unified account that supports attendance at conferences and other professional development activities. We encourage initiative and innovation among library faculty and staff; we foster autonomy and independence in developing projects; and we expect professionals to contribute to the mission of the law school and the law library on a variety of levels. We also expect all law library faculty to be service-oriented, committed to diversity and inclusivity, interested in innovation, and eager to contribute to an active department that serves diverse communities. The law library is committed to being inclusive and open and to supporting the success of all students.
