About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ohio State University is hiring a part-time Research Lead Technician to manage laboratory-based research projects designed to improve the success of strategies for the bioanalytical analysis of acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholinesterase and related proteins. The research requires fine attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to oversee and coordinate multiple projects and research lab staff, ability to anticipate and solve most lab issues with little supervision, preparation of graphs and advanced data analyses, and ability to lead report and/or publication writing efforts. The Research Lead Technician will lead lab and biochemical research projects, including protein expression, protein characterization and the development of novel in vitro assays, as well as train new and existing research lab staff. The Research Lead Technician must be an expert in cholinesterase enzymes, biochemical assays for absorption and fluorescence, protein expression and across a range of experimental settings. Lab and research work will involve the handling and preparation of biochemical milieu and the purification or analysis of such mixtures. The College of the Arts and Sciences in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking a Research Lead Technician. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry or equivalent experience required
  • 5 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 1 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
  • Candidates must have five years of experience in the handling of cholinesterases and other proteins.

  • Masters or higher degree desired.
