About The Position

The Research Laboratory Technician will support ongoing research in the Suyama Lab in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wyoming, with a focus on chemical biology and drug delivery. Responsibilities include maintaining mammalian cell culture systems and performing routine biological assays . This position contributes directly to active research projects and is suited for individuals seeking hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary research lab at the interface of chemistry and biology.

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Prior research experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique
  • Previous research or laboratory work experience in relevant areas
  • Preference for candidates able to commit to the position for approximately 12 months
  • Recent graduates (post-baccalaureate) planning to pursue graduate or professional school are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures, including routine passaging, media preparation, and sterile technique.
  • Assist in routine cell-based assays (e.g., viability assays such as MTT or related assays) following established protocols.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and solutions for laboratory experiments.
  • Assist with experimental setup, including plating cells and organizing assay materials.
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks such as cleaning glassware, maintaining lab organization, and restocking supplies.
  • Accurately record experimental activities and assist in data organization.
  • Follow all laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Other assigned tasks to aid in the research lab
